LAWMAKERS OFFER SUPPORT TO FATHERS
National Initiative Aimed At Increasing Education Involvement
San Bernardino, CA - U.S. Congressman Joe Baca recently shared his support for efforts being presented by the Million Father March throughout his congressional district and across the nation.
Also, San Bernardino County Supervisor, Josie Gonzales, issued a Proclamation declaring August 27 as Million Father March day in her county.
Terry Boykins, founder of 4Positive Knowledge and west coast organizer for the Million Father March, is the recipient of both endorsements. 4Positive Knowledge is engaged in positive social outreach campaigns targeted primarily at youth, parent and community involvement.
The principal objective of the Million Father March is to encourage fathers to rally behind taking their children to the first day of school, and stay engaged in their children's education until they graduate high school. The campaign begun as a grassroots organization headed by Black Star Project president, Phillip Jackson, in Chicago, IL, five years ago with 20,000 participants and is expected to involve nearly 2 Million participants this coming school year.
In addition to the support offered by lawmakers, Boykins has gained considerable support from educators, community and social organizations. One of the greatest outreaches has been to mothers. And, on June 1, a Million Father March "PreView" Reception entitled "Why Is He Your Baby's Daddy" will be held at the Mission Inn Hotel in Riverside, CA; Boykins is also a mentor to a 13yr old middle school student from a single mother household. Another area of support has come from foster care agencies.
As for the fathers, Boykins wants to encourage fathers, grandfathers, god-fathers, stepfathers, foster fathers, uncles and cousins to unite and provide a male presence in the education and lives of children. Pleasant Hill, CA. Darrell H. Wiley, President of Wymac Capital, Inc. and Russell W. McDonald, President of Sourcetec, Inc. have announced that the United States Patent and Trademark Office has issued two Patents for the Cypher(tm) System, with other Patents-Pending. The Patents were assigned to Sourcetec, Inc., who has licensed them to Wymac Capital, Inc. Patent # US 7,315,841 B was issued January 1, 2008 and has 92 claims. Patent # US 7,340435 B2 was issued March 4, 2008 and has 41 claims.
